Staying within the box
Within our new normal, we are either in an online meeting "box" or socially distancing in our cars and homes. The pandemic has contained us. We are boxed up, our schools are boxed up, and our businesses are boxed up. After months and months of feeling caged in, I thought about surrendering to the box but instead I chose to fight it and use it in the physical world to tell a story and provide a way to connect local people with local e-commerce. Here I introduce you to the idea of a business e-commerce mini storefront. The business box e-tail window was born out of the question, “How can I help my community?” Instead of going big in a window, I played with the idea of going small. Smallness awakens curiosity in all of us much like the fascination of miniature holiday displays. The discovery and creativity of something tiny is endless and the more you look the more you see. The idea of business e-tail boxes are the same. Come by to see my first e-tail window in Coral Gables at 355 Miracle Mile near Seasons 52 featuring my journals in a display about the projects the Villagers helped with.
Walk, Think, Imagine
As I walked in my neighborhood, I saw beauty. I also saw empty storefronts and wondered how I could help. I began thinking about e-commerce and how it is the new normal to stay in, work from home, and order online. For me, this is a time to dream and reinvent. Ideas start by writing them down and trying them on. When you get your ideas together and share them other people can add to them. Communication and exploring new ideas will help us on our journey to discover new possibilities.
