St. Sophia Notebook
This byzantine cathedral was designed by architect Chrystophoros P. Kantianis in 1948. The interior of the church was completed in Italy with the installation of the Iconostasis. The mosaics icons, as well as the authentic byzantine beautiful iconography of Saint Sophia Church, were the creation of the well-known iconographer Stelios Maris in the Byzantine design. Sophia Greek Orthodox opened its doors to the community in 1950 and is under renovation today.
Every February, St. Sophia hosts a Greek Festival and invites the entire community. The festival includes homemade Greek food, dessert, dancing, and celebrating! Last year I got to help bake the Koulourakia (butter cookies) and learned all the secrets to making it to perfection! OPA!
A portion of the proceeds of the sale of this notebook will go to help save historic places.
